Connect Zoom

Connect your Zoom account to Rally to automatically create a unique Zoom link for every interview booked through Rally. Once connected, select Zoom as the location when you configure interview scheduling for an interview study.

Zoom is a personal integration, so each Rally user connects their own account. Every interviewer who hosts sessions on Zoom should connect their own Zoom account so links are created under the right host.

Connect your Zoom account

Steps

  1. Navigate to Settings > Connected Accounts.

  2. Select Connect Zoom.

  3. In the popup window, sign in to the Zoom account you want to connect.

  4. Review the requested permissions, listed in the table below, and select Allow.

  5. The popup closes automatically and Zoom shows as connected on the Connected Accounts page.

Record Zoom interviews with Observer Rooms

If you use Observer Rooms to record Zoom interviews, Zoom asks the host to approve recording each time Rally's notetaker joins. The host needs to be in the meeting to select Allow. Your Zoom admin may also need to allow local recording for your account.

If your study uses Observer Rooms, Rally's notetaker bot joins each Zoom interview to livestream and record it. By default, the interview host has to approve the bot's recording request each time it joins, and the host's Zoom account needs Record to computer files turned on.

To skip the approval step, an admin can turn on automatic Zoom recording for your workspace:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Observer Rooms.

  2. Turn on Automatic Zoom recording.

The bot then starts recording as soon as it's admitted, with no approval needed from the host and no Zoom recording settings to change. The setting applies to every Zoom interview with an Observer Room in your workspace, including ones that are already scheduled.

Disconnect or reconnect Zoom

To disconnect, navigate to Settings > Connected Accounts, select Disconnect next to Zoom, and confirm. Rally won't be able to create Zoom links for your interviews until you connect again.
