Update Properties for Participants

A person's Property data can be updated in multiple ways. Continue reading to learn more about the various methods and understand how to leverage each one depending on your preferences and use cases.

Individual Participant Profiles within Studies or People

Recommended method for updating different Properties for small numbers of Participants, or multiple Properties for individuals.

  1. Navigate to either the Studies or People table in Rally.

    • To update from a Study, select the Study name to open it and select the 'Participants' tab from the sidepanel

  2. Use the search bar in the top right to find the relevant Participant, or use filters to narrow your search.

  3. Select the name of the relevant person to open their Participant Profile.

  4. Select the 'Properties' tab to view all Properties, including Properties with or without data for the current selected Participant.

  5. Carefully edit any Properties to add, change, or remove information; any changes made will be saved automatically.

  6. Exit the editor by selecting the 'X' in the top right or 'Close' in the bottom right.

In Bulk from People Table

Recommended method for updating a single or multiple of the same Properties for numerous Participants.

  1. Navigate to the People table in Rally.

  2. Continue from the main People table "Everyone" or select a specific Panel or Segment from the left sidepanel.

  3. Use filters to narrow your search for the relevant Participants.

  4. Use the checkboxes to select all relevant Participants to update Properties.

  5. Select the 'Edit Properties' button at the top of the table.

  6. In the right sidepanel that opens, select the Property to update for all selected Participants and then select the new value to add or replace existing data with.

  7. Select 'Save Changes' to apply.

  8. Repeat the same process to update each additional Property as needed.

In Bulk via CSV Upload

Custom Properties you've created in your Rally Workspace can be updated for Participants by importing a CSV file from various databases or sources and mapping the columns to the corresponding Properties. The values in each record will be uploaded to their Participant Profile. Participants with existing data for a Property will have that value replaced if the CSV includes an updated value for that Property, and Participants with no data for a Property will have that value added if the CSV includes a value for that Property.

Question Templates and Screener or Survey Response Mapping

You can create reusable question templates with Property mapping or assign Screener or Survey question responses to Properties so that when a Participant takes a Screener or Survey, their responses automatically update the values in their Properties with any new or updated information, providing you with more data and enriching Participant Profiles.

Out-the-Box Properties are pre-defined in Rally and are automatically updated based on various actions and events within Rally, such as Participant activity and interactions.

Salesforce or Snowflake Syncs

Rally offers integrations with both Salesforce and Snowflake. By mapping Salesforce or Snowflake fields to the corresponding Properties in Rally, your existing contacts and their information can be synced to Rally, creating or updating the person's Property data automatically. Utilizing these integrations allows you to populate Rally with Participants quickly and easily, and ensures data stays fresh and up to date.
