This article provides instructions for customers using Rally V1. Your Rally admin will let you know when it's time to switch to Rally for Teams. For customers using Rally for Teams, jump to the Rally for Teams section below.
Screener and Survey questions are commonly reused in different Studies, and Rally provides Question Templates to save you time. Instead of writing a new question each time, simply add a Question Template. You also have the option to map the question to an existing Property or create a new Property right at the same time. Save any newly created question as a Question Template for reusing and sharing with your team.
Create a New Question Template
Creating new Question Templates can be done in advance from the Question Templates page in Settings, or added on the spot when creating a Screener or Survey.
π¨ Creating Email Templates requires an Ops Manager, Researcher, or Admin role type.
From Question Template Settings
In the top right corner of Rally, select your user icon and select 'Settings'.
From the sidebar, select 'Question Templates'.
From the top right, select 'Add Template'.
Enter the desired Template Name.
We suggest using description naming conventions to make your Question Templates easily recognizable and distinguishable for yourself and your team's future use.
Enter the Question to be shown to Participants. Be clear and concise.
Select the appropriate Question Type. More info on Question Types down below.

Optionally, enable Required Response checkbox to always require responses to this question.
Optionally, enter a Question Description to provide more context to Participants, while keeping the actual Question concise.
Depending on the Property Type you select, there may be additional options to set.
For Single-Select, Multi-Select, or Dropdown Question Types, add the available options for Participants to choose from.
Add another option by selecting the '+' on the right side.
Remove an option by selecting the trash icon on the right side.
Select '+ Add New Option' to add more options.
Select '+ Bulk Add New Options' to create multiple options simultaneously by pasting comma-separated values or by typing and pressing enter after each option to save time.
Select 'Add "Other" for Custom Response' to allow Participants to type in an alternative answer.
For Single-Select, Multi-Select, or Dropdown Question Types, you can enable the Randomize Options toggle to display question options in random order for each participant.
Associate Question responses to specific Properties by enabling the 'Assign Response to Property' toggle and selecting 'Select a Property'. Using this feature enriches Participant Profiles continuously as any time a Participant takes a Screener or Survey and answers questions with Property mapping enabled, their responses automatically update the values in their Properties with any new or updated information, providing you with more data to better tailor your recruitment outreach.
After entering all the necessary information and confirming everything is correct, select 'Save Question Template' to save.
From a Screener or Survey
Create new Question Templates as you go whenever you create a new Screener or Survey. After creating the question and selecting 'Done' to add the question to the Screener or Survey, simply select the three dots in the top right corner of the question and select 'Save as Question Template'.
Rally for Teams
The steps above are for customers using Rally V1. The section below includes specific instructions for customers using Rally for Teams.

π¨ Creating question templates requires the "Create and modify question templates settings" permission. This includes the Rally default roles Admin, Ops Manager, or Researcher.
From Question Templates
From the navigation sidebar, select Templates.
Select Questions from the tabs at the top to switch between template types.
Select + New in the top right to create a new question template.
In the new template, fill out all required details.
Template Name: We suggest using descriptive naming conventions to make your question templates easily recognizable and distinguishable for yourself and your team's future use.
Enter the Question to be shown to Participants. Be clear and concise.

Select Add "other" option to allow participants to type in an alternative answer.
Select Add "None of the above" option to include at the bottom, even if option order was randomized.
For Single-Select, Multi-Select, or Dropdown question types, turn on Randomize Options to display question options in random order for each participant, making it difficult for participants to guess the "right" answer to qualify.
Property Mapping: Highly recommended! Associate question responses to specific Properties by enabling the Assign response to property toggle and selecting Select a property. Using this feature enriches Participant Profiles continuously as any time a participant takes a screener or survey and answers questions with property mapping enabled, their responses automatically update the values in their properties with any new or updated information, providing you with more data to better tailor your recruitment outreach and conduct informed interviews.
Permissions Access: Select the Permissions tab at the top to configure which teams have access to view or use this template, or leave as is if the Entire workspace has access. Access permissions for new templates are set to "Entire workspace has access" by default. Select the dropdown to assign access to specific team(s).
Assign Teams:
From the dropdown, select Only specific teams have access.
With this access setting, at least one team is required.
Select + Add teams.
Select the Team dropdown to search and select existing teams.
Add multiple teams at once by selecting more teams.
Select Add Teams to confirm.
Remove Teams:
Select the x icon to the right of a team to remove their access.
Select Save changes in the top right corner to apply your edits.
After entering all the necessary information and confirming everything is correct, select Save changes to save.
From a Screener or Survey
After creating the question and selecting Done to add the question to the screener or survey, simply select the 3 dots in the top right corner of the question and select Save as question template to save it for future use.
Manage Question Templates
Manage existing question templates easily from Templates; select the Questions tab.
Edit Question Templates
Select the name of a question template to open it and begin editing. Make changes to the name, options, and more, or select the Permissions tab to change which teams have access to it. Save changes to apply.
Delete Question Templates
Select the 3 dots on the right of any question template and select Delete, then confirm you would like to Delete in the pop-up.
Duplicate Question Templates
Select the 3 dots on the right of any question template and select Duplicate. A new question template will be automatically create with the same name + (copy). Select the name to open and begin editing. Select Save changes to apply.
