Email Tracking
View email tracking metrics by opening a study and navigating to Messages.
Open Rate
Open Rate is the percent of all emails sent in a study where a participant opened the email.
Opens are tracked using 1x1 invisible tracking pixels embedded in emails sent from Rally.
Open Rate should be viewed as a rough estimate. Several factors can cause inaccuracy:
Email spam detection bots that automatically open messages
Email inbox security settings that block images
Browser extensions that block tracking pixels

Click Rate
Click Rate is the percent of all emails sent in a study where a participant clicked at least one link.
Clicks are tracked by wrapping links with a Rally tracking link, which always forwards users to the intended destination.

Bounce Rate
Bounce Rate is the percent of all emails sent in a study that resulted in a hard or soft bounce.
⛔ Hard bounce: usually indicates a permanent error, but can also be caused by a strict email security filter.
🟠 Soft bounce: indicates a temporary problem with the recipient's server, or another temporary technical problem with the email provider.
It's important to note that Rally is only able to detect Bounce Rate rates when sent through a Connected Email Domain.
Email sending will be paused if the bounce rate exceeds 9.5% per connected domain over the last 30 days.
Please see Email Health Thresholds to learn more.
Spam Complaint Rate
Spam Complaint Rate is the percent of all emails sent in a study where a participant clicked “Report as Spam.”
This is different from emails landing in the Spam folder. A complaint means the participant viewed the email and explicitly marked it as Spam.
Spam complaints should be extremely rare (no more than 1 in 1000 emails). If you see a higher rate, review:
Subject line and email body (avoid spammy formatting, excess emojis, inconsistent fonts, spelling errors)
Participant list (ensure recipients expect your emails)
Sending domain (use a recognizable, trusted domain)
Clear opt-out (include the unsubscribe link at the bottom of the email)
Other things to note about Spam Complaint rate:
Rally can only detect Spam Complaints when sending through a Connected Email Domain.
To protect all customers’ sending reputation, Rally may temporarily block email sending if Spam Complaint rates exceed 0.09%.
