Welcome to the SMS Reminders Beta!
We’re excited to get your feedback on our SMS Reminders feature. With this pilot, Rally can send automated, transactional SMS messages (confirmations, schedule changes, and interview reminders) to participants who opt in. These messages are delivered from a Rally-managed number and are triggered at predefined intervals (e.g., 15 minutes before an interview). Your participation gives us vital real-world feedback to ensure everything runs smoothly for everyone.
How to test SMS reminders
Please read more detailed instructions in the sections below.
Enable SMS for your workspace
Go to Settings > Workspace > SMS in Rally and enable the SMS feature for your workspace.
Activate SMS reminders in a study
Create a new interview study within Rally. By default, the “Interview Reminder” SMS option will be enabled. You can disable it if needed.
Launch the study and collect sign ups
Participants who sign up for a study will be prompted to enter their phone number and agree to SMS consent. This consent gathers needed permissions and notes that SMS messages may incur messaging or data charges (they may receive up to 6 messages per event and can opt out by replying STOP).

Watch this short video to see how SMS reminders work:
Overview
When enabled, Rally can send participants transactional SMS reminders to research participants who opt in to receive interview reminders and updates. This article explains how to enable this setting and turn on SMS reminders for interview stuides.
Additionally, we'll cover where consent is collected, the exact disclosure text, frequency, opt‑out keywords, and how participants can revoke consent.
Enable Rally SMS Setting
By navigating to Settings > Workspace > SMS, Rally admins will be able to enable SMS messages for their workspace.
When enabled, users will be able to turn on SMS reminders on a per study basis.
SMS reminders will be sent from a Rally-managed number +1-330-661-9491.
Configuring SMS Reminders for Interview Studies
Within an interview study, "Interview Reminder" SMS messages will be enabled by default. If you'd like to disable SMS reminders for a study, you can toggle off this message.
SMS reminders will be sent to participants at a predefined time before the interview starts (i.e. 15 minutes before the start time).
SMS reminders messages are not customizable.
When SMS reminders are enabled, phone numbers and consent will automatically be collected before a participant is able to signup for a study.
Additionally, when a participant signs up for a study, they are providing consent for SMS communication. They are able to opt out of SMS communication at any time by replying STOP to the reminder text message.
Participant Experience
Where consent is collected
Consent is collected on Rally’s public share link invitation page for a specific booking. Participants will see the following:
Field label: Required field for participants to end their phone number
Rally SMS Consent: By entering your phone number, you consent to receive messages for this event via SMS. Message and data rates may apply. You may receive up to 6 messages per each event. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Rally's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
Submission: Consent is recorded in Rally when the participant clicks Submit after entering a phone number.
Participants will only be able to hit submit after entering in a valid phone number.
Message purpose and frequency
SMS messages will only be sent to participants for interview logistics like confirmations, reminders, schedule changes, and day‑of updates. Participants may receive up to 6 messages per each event.
Participant Opt‑out and Revoking Consent
Participants can stop messages anytime by replying STOP to the SMS message they receive.
Rally users are also able to manually update a participant's SMS consent within a participant's profile.
How consent is stored and verified
Rally stores a timestamped record with the person's, phone number, and workspace that initiated the invite.
Records are retained for audit and can be produced on request to verify first‑party consent.
Opt‑outs are honored immediately and persisted across Rally.
