Thank you for being a user of Rally, and joining us on our journey to make the best user research CRM. As a product focused company, our job is to iterate and improve based on customer feedback. Today, we’re thrilled to upgrade all our customer workspaces to Rally for Teams! We’re committed to supporting you through this change, and greatly appreciate your continued feedback.
Why did you upgrade my workspace?
As of March 4th, 2025, all customer workspaces on the previous version of Rally have been updated to the latest version of Rally as part of our Rally For Teams product release. Since November 2024, existing workspaces have had access to the latest version, and new workspaces have started on the new version. Today’s update ensures all workspaces are set up to receive new features and product improvements going forward.
Is my plan changing?
No, your current plan remains unchanged. This is a product update only, and all features are included in your current plan.
Why do I need a team?
In the previous version of Rally, all users in your workspace would see all studies, participants, templates, budgets, etc in the entire workspace. This makes it difficult to bring more users or collaborators into your workspace, if you only want them to see studies or participants relevant for them. The introduction of Teams allows you to organize studies, assign resources (eg. study templates), and assign participant access to users in your workspace. We believe Teams are essential if your goals include any level of self serve research at your organization.
How do I create a team?
Creating a team is simple. Go to the “Teams” page in the main sidebar. There, you’ll be able to see existing teams and create new ones. Note: You must be an Admin, or have a role that includes the permission to create new teams.
What if I only have one team?
You need at least one team to use the latest version of Rally. If you only have one team, that is completely fine. For workspaces with one team, we recommend giving it a name like “Default Team”, and adding all your users to it. We’ve seen some customers benefit from creating a team for training purposes - called “Training Team” - with fake participants, as a way to onboard new users to Rally.
Where did my navigation bar go?
Navigation in Rally has moved to a new sidebar component. The sidebar component makes navigation more efficient and scalable. The new sidebar is collapsible, features an improved notifications inbox experience, and has a Teams section for you to quickly navigate to your team’s studies. Settings are now found under the workspace dropdown.
Where are my panels?
Panels are now found within the “People” page in the main sidebar, under the new label “Populations”. The underlying concept has not changed. You can think of panels and populations as the same thing: a curated group of participants for research. This update does bring a powerful new capability into Rally: you can now create Segments and Lists within a panel. For example, you may have an “Enterprise users” panel. You can have “Active users” and “Inactive users” segments within that panel.
Where are my panel signup pages?
Signup Pages are now found in the “Forms” page in the main sidebar. All your existing panel Signup Pages can be found there. The underlying concept has not changed. You can think of Signup Pages and Forms as the same thing –now just more easily accessible. This update brings some highly requested improvements to tracking panel signups – notably, the ability to view screener question responses directly in the signups table, making it easier to review signups.
Why can’t I see any of my studies?
Users without a team won’t be able to see the “Studies” page contents in the main sidebar. Since access to participants is now governed via a user’s team, this was a precaution to ensure Admins have a guardrail in place during this update. To resolve this, simply have an Admin or team owner add you to the desired team.
I don’t have the same permissions that I used to. What happened?
The latest version of Rally has a new permissions system that factors in a user's Role and Team memberships to determine which actions can be taken and which resources (studies, participants, templates, budgets) can be accessed. Your membership on a Team largely determines which resources you can access, whereas your user Role determines what actions you can perform. If you experience unexpected limitations, it’s likely due to the new permission layers. Contact your Admin to update your permissions if needed.
